Donald Trump meets with secreatry of state candidate David Petraeus

US President-elect Donald Trump has met with scandal-scarred retired General David Petraeus who is under consideration to be secretary of state.
Petraeus, a former US military commander who resigned as CIA chief in 2012 under a criminal cloud, spent an hour with the president-elect in Trump Tower in Manhattan on Monday.
Following the meeting, Trump tweeted that he was “very impressed” with Petraeus.
Trump is reportedly also considering other candidates for secretary of state, including former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who is scheduled to meet with the president-elect again on Tuesday.
Petraeus told reporters that he and Trump had “a very good conversation, and we’ll see where it goes from here.”
He said that Trump had given him a tutorial on world affairs and “showed a great grasp of a variety of the challenges that are out there and some of the opportunities as well.”
As a four-star general in the US Army, Petraeus oversaw international military forces in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He later served as the CIA director under the administration of President Barack Obama.
Petraeus pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of mishandling classified information after he shared government secrets with his mistress Paula Broadwell, a married woman who was his biographer. 
Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence have met with about 70 people so far as they try to shape their White House and cabinet team.

Petraeus said last week that he was ready to serve in the Trump administration if offered a position.
In addition to seeing Petraeus, Trump also interviewed Frances Fragos Townsend, a former Homeland Security official, and met with David Clarke Jr., the Milwaukee County sheriff -- both vying for secretary of Homeland Security.
As he was leaving Trump Tower, Pence said, “There will be a number of very important announcements tomorrow.”
