The state visit represents a notable landmark in regional and bilateral diplomacy, as it is President Pellegrini's first official trip to China since he assumed office in 2024. Pellegrini arrived in Beijing on Monday for the three-day state visit, which includes high-level talks with top Chinese leadership. According to economic trade figures reported by state broadcaster CGTN, merchandise trade volume between the two nations reached substantial levels in 2025. Chinese exports to Slovakia totaled approximately 4.39 billion dollars during that year, while Chinese imports from Slovakia amounted to roughly 4.24 billion dollars, reflecting a relatively balanced commercial exchange characterized by high volumes of industrial components, automotive products, and advanced machinery.
As the three-day state visit progresses, officials from both governments are anticipated to review potential investment initiatives, infrastructure development opportunities, and diplomatic channels designed to foster stable relations between China and Central European nations.
