Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, has formally matriculated 4,046 newly admitted students for the 2024/2025 academic session.
The matriculation ceremony took place on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the university campus. In his address, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Akintunde, described the event as “another special day in the history of the university.”
Congratulating the fresh students, Prof. Akintunde noted, “You have been admitted into the foremost and best teacher training institution in Nigeria. You should recognize the immense value of this opportunity and feel proud as you take your place among the distinguished alumni of this citadel of learning.”
Speaking further on the significance of the matriculation oath, he explained, “Your matriculation oath is a legal bond between you and this university, committing you to uphold its values and to be a good ambassador both on and off campus.”
He added, “By taking this oath, you have agreed to abide by the university’s rules and regulations. Any actions that contradict the oath may attract appropriate sanctions, including suspension or expulsion.”
Prof. Akintunde also emphasized the importance of timely course registration, stating that without it, students would not be able to participate in examinations or have their results processed. “Without results, there is no way to determine your academic progress,” he warned.
He urged the students to steer clear of social vices such as rape, drug abuse, cultism, assault, indecent dressing, gangsterism, theft, vandalism of university property, and examination malpractice. “Anyone caught engaging in these acts will face serious consequences,” he said.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor used the occasion to commend the University Admissions Committee and the Division of Senate Matters and Admissions, led by Mr. Oladele Olufemi Balogun, for their dedication and hard work. He also appreciated the Ondo State Coordinator of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), who represented the Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Olarewaju Oloyede.
The highlight of the ceremony, held at the Babatunde Ipaye Lecture Theatre, was the administration of the matriculation oath by the university Registrar, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were key principal officers of the institution, including the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Akintunde; Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Olufemi Olajuyigbe; Registrar, Mrs. Fakorede; Acting Bursar, Mrs. Taiwo Adedoyin; and Acting Librarian, Dr. (Mrs.) Adeola Afolabi.
Also present were Deans of the Faculties of Education, Arts and Languages, Science, and Vocational and Technical Education; Directors; Heads of Departments and Units; members of staff; students; and families and friends of the matriculating students.
