Following the release of 5 workers kidnapped by unknown gunmen four days ago along Ogbagi-Ikare road in Ondo State, the kidnap victims have narrated their grueling experience.
Mr. Sedu Jimoh (62) Onminyi Oloche (34), a Staff, Driver and food Vendor whose names were not revealed were kidnapped and whisked away by the daredevil gunmen on Friday night.
The victims who are staff of an electricity firm working on Federal Government power project in Ikare-Akoko in the Akoko North East Local Government Area of the State, were released after their captors reportedly collected a lump sum of N2.2m.
According to the victims, the kidnappers who starved them for four days in the bush, also collected cooked rice, cigarettes 2packs of Fearless drink and meat before they could regain their freedom.
Speaking on behalf of others on Monday, Mr. Jimoh who is the Site Supervisor, told our Correspondent that the kidnappers whom he described as heartless, had subjected them to excruciating pains.
Narrating the nerve-wracking ordeal, Jimoh said “our abductors resembled Fulanis and they usually pretend as if they are rearing cows whenever they hear strange voice”
“They usually tie our hands every night before we sleep. Initially they demanded for N50 million but we paid N2.2 million as ransome before they could released us.”
“They also collected cooked rice, cigarettes, 2 cartoons of Fearless and meats. Two others are in the hospital because they were tortured by the kidnappers.”
The victims, however, appealed to the government to beef up security in the country.
A community leader from Ikare-Akoko, Alhaji Sule Olaniyi, called on government and security agencies to always protect contractors handling projects, while he urged residents to report strange faces marauding the area.
