Ivana Trump’s joke about the true first lady upsets Melania Trump

Melania Trump, the wife of the current US president, has responded to a joke about who the real first lady is.
Melania offered a firm rebuttal Monday after Donald Trump’s first wife, Ivana Trump, indicated she was the true first lady.
Ivana, who is the first wife, and mother of Trump’s three favorite children — Ivanka, Eric and Donald Jr., said in an interview with “Good Morning America,” that she has a “direct number to the White House,” yet she does not want to arouse Melania’s “jealousy.”
“I don’t really want to call him there because Melania is there and I don’t want to cause any kind of jealousy or something like that,” said Trump's ex-wife (pictured above), adding, “Because I’m basically first Trump wife, OK? I’m [the] first lady.”
A spokesperson for the first lady responded to the statement, asserting that Melania is happy with her position.
“Mrs. Trump has made the White House a home for Barron and the President. She loves living in Washington, DC, and is honored by her role as first lady of the United States. She plans to use her title and role to help children, not sell books … There is clearly no substance to this statement from an ex. This is unfortunately only attention-seeking and self-serving noise.”
First Lady of the United States (FLOTUS) is an unofficial title with no codified or officially defined role, who serves as the White House hostess.
