Prince Harry has attended a poignant dawn service for Anzac Day at London's Hyde Park.
The service began with the sounds of a pūtātara conch shell trumpet playing a lament from the top of the Royal Artillery Memorial, then movingly told the story of that fateful day in April 1915 when the allied forces landed at Anzac Cove, Gallipoli, to attempt to take the Dardanelles.
New Zealand and Australian children joined armed forces personnel from both countries in prayers and reflection.
The Band of the Grenadier Guards, directed by Major Philip Stredwick, played the hymn "Abide With Me" and the national anthems of Britain, Australia and New Zealand, playing God Defend New Zealand in both Maori and English.
Prince Harry joined the official party in laying wreaths at the memorial.
Musician Lance Corporal Ben Beavis of the Band of the Grenadier Guards played the Last Post from the Royal Artillery Memorial prior to a two minutes silence and then the Reveille.
After the service, a commemorative waiata, E Pari Ra, was performed by a large number of New Zealanders in front of the New Zealand Memorial.
